Punk: Chaos to Couture Exhibit.

This weekend I went to see the much anticipated fashion exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Punk: Chaos to Couture was an exhibit showcasing this wonderful world of the Punk era which was a world-wide obsession during the 70's and 80's. The exhibit featured many great designers and the collections that was inspired by the Punk era such as Alexander McQueen, Dolce and Gabbana and of course the queen and king of punk, Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm Mclaren.

The exhibit had everything you can think of from studs, safety pins, shredded and ripped clothing, variety of colors, paint splatter, graffiti and more! This exhibit really took you back to the years of Punk reign, giving you a moment of nostalgia has soon as you walk into the door.
There were so many great moments and fashion in the exhibit that it is hard to pick a favorite. I love the really edgy and fun street pieces like the leather studded jacket with pins galore paired with a leather studded skirt. I also love this shredded wool sweater dress with a skull printed on the front. Then, there were high-fashion punk couture inspired pieces. For instance, the Dolce and Gabbana spring/summer 2008 evening gowns! They were a mixture of couture goodness and punk edge, which I adore!
Unfortunately, I was not allowed to take pictures of the exhibit (hate that rule!) but I did get some good pictures from Google (thank God for Google) and also got some good photos outside of the exhibit.
