Throwback Thursday: Showrooms and Shopping in the Big Apple

With 2015 coming to an end, these are the times to look back at the year and think about all the good things that happened. The only thing I seem to think about is a textbook. Most of my life for the last year has been school, school and more school. Of course, I had some other amazing things happen to me such as getting my awesome job at a vintage thrift store, a cool summer vacation, graduation, and even making some new connections with some really dope people. Plus, school hasn't been all bad. Ever since I transferred to Philadelphia University, I managed to make connections to the industry already and even join a great organization, BRAG, that can help me get far in the future.

Reading Circle: Books I'm Reading During Winter Break

Its been two weeks since I've been on break and the only thing I've accomplished so far is spend money for the holidays, lay in bed ill and go to work. Not my idea of fun. Yes, I had a good holiday with family and friends and I even was able to see an art exhibit I have been dying to see at the Philadelphia Museum of Art but mostly my winter break has been pretty dull.

The Image of Hip Hop in the 21st Century

Dress how you want to be addressed. A true statement everyone should live by. It's not just enough to dress for good looks but to make a statement with the clothes you wear. Since the 1960's, many people dressed to speak out for a cause, your fashion was a form of activism. This wasn't prevalent for a younger audience until the new age of hip hop stars hit the scene with not only great music but a message to go with it. That message didn't only speak out in their lyrics but with every stitch of clothing they wear.

Travel Tuesday: Travel Bucklist

Ever since my travels to Capetown, South Africa, I have officially been bitten by the travel bug. I always wanted to travel the world and experience different cultures but I never thought it was possible. Now, that I did a little travel both inside and outside the country I know that I can travel to wherever my heart dreams of.  I have a full list of places I want to travel to but below is my top 3 destinations that I dream my feet can touch one day. Check them out below.

Fashion Review: OverGrind

Street brands are the future. Don't believe me then just log on to every blog, fashion website or even look at all the trends many people wear today. It's less about being pretty but more about showing off your personal style while being comfortable. That's what makes the best street brands. It's not all about looking cool though, these days many of our favorite brands have a message behind their madness.

Fashion Review: Lost Queens

Finding a clothing or accessory brand celebrating woman of color can be very hard to find, definitely in today's age. With so many beauty standards, do's and don'ts in fashion and pressures to fit in, it may be hard to know your true potential in being stylish and confident just being yourself.  That's exactly why I love Lost Queens, a jewelry brand with a positive message founded by Eboni Merriman. Not only are their accessories uber cute but the brand also celebrates woman of color by naming each piece after an  iconic lady.

Hear Us ROAR: Fashionable Jewerly to Empower Woman

Hello all!

Wow, it's been such a long time since I've been able to update ever since I started college (again) but I will definitely try to make an effort to update more often. Even though this has been a very stressful semester so far (booo!) I also have been up to some really great things since attending Philadelphia University (more on that soon). Anywho, I'm not on here to speak about my daily struggles as a college student but instead, I want to speak about this awesome new product I discovered this month.

A Don't Miss Event: Barbee X BDes Presents: Freak Show

Designers Brittany DeShields (BDes) and Iris Barbee Bonner (ThesePinkLips).

Where were you on August 30th?
If you were anything like me then you were getting ready for the most bizarre music event on television all year, The Video Music Awards. Besides the awkward moment between Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus, the epic speech from Kanye West (Kanye4Prez) and the fact that Taylor Swift took over another award show, there was one stand out moment that was on the tongues of everyone!

Empowering Him: Black Skin Photo Exhibit

"Black Lives Matter" by Vincent Marc
Art ignites change.
A statement heard many times but may not be understood. Many see art as just pictures in frames hanging on the wall but art can be and actually is so much more then that. Art can capture the essence of a single moment and tell a story that can inspire someone or many. It can make you think or even provoke you to do more.

What Would She Wear: During Festival Season

What Would She Wear: During Festival Season

What Would She Wear: During Festival Season

I'm back with another What Would She Wear after a long hiatus. Too long if you ask me! With festival season among us (YAY!) I decided to share some festival trends I will be rocking all summer long!

I'm really into mixing and matching different prints and trends right now, so I decided to give my bohemian style a twist of 90's grunge. I just got a really cool maxi skirt I know I'm going to be rocking all season long and the floral print can be paired with any color or print. I decided to style this skirt with a cute crop top and some retro shades for the perfect outfit for me to wear at my favorite festivals this season.

Let me know what you think! What will you be wearing at festival season?

Hola Everyone!

Seems like forever since I did a blogpost. Sorry to keep you all waiting, school has been kicking my butt...again. When I saw a small opening of freedom I used it to do all the things I managed to hold off on including writing this post. WHOOP! Anywho, I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day weekend. Whatever that means. I basically stuff my face with chocolate and watch The Golden Girls all weekend. As you may figured out already, I really love The Golden Girls.

So, to celebrate Valentine's Day in a big way, I decided to come back to my first love. Of course it's food! Yummy, tasty, mouth-watering food. Just thinking about food makes me all dreamy eye right know. I'm a proud fat kid at heart! So, you can only imagine my excitement when I finally was able to experience Center City Restaurant Week. Even though I only visited 4 restaurants, it was the best food I ever tasted in my life. What made it so great was that it was 4 totally different restaurants and types of food. I got to try Mexican, French, Thai & Indian, all delicious in its own right.

Center City Restaurant Week was a great way to try new foods while also discovering all the great places to dine in Philadelphia for really great prices. It was basically a foodie dream. I'm already counting down the days to the next restaurant week in the summer. I couldn't remember every meal I had but trust me when I say every bite of it was heaven. For instance, the chicken in cranberry sauce at Lolita's was surprisingly a dream come true. Next time, I have to take notes of everything I had so other people can experience the awesomeness. Special thanks to my family and friends for being good sports while I drag them to all the restaurants with me.  Be sure to check out the restaurants I visited listed below and let me know what you think!

See Ya!

Artist of the Month: David Lynch

Ello Mates! Seems like forever since I've wrote a blog post. Been chained up again by my studies. This is my last semester at community college, so my only focus is to pass my classes and get out of there! It hasn't been a bad experience there, actually the opposite but my time there has run over and I need some new scenery. It's about that time.

ANYWHO!!

I've been really into strange things lately and I think it started with American Horror Story (which I desperately have to catch up on). Ever since then I've been interested in really weird movies, books, & art. My love for the stranger things in life got stronger after seeing David Lynch exhibit at PAFA (Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts). BTW! For those who don't know who David Lynch is, he is a film director, television director & a actor. He mostly known for Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart & Eraserhead. After seeing his exhibit I was very confused but at the same time in awe. His artwork instantly gave you a reaction, whether good or bad which is cool to me. Plus, you can tell cinema plays a big role when it comes to his visual arts as well. Even though to most people his art work is kinda weird and creepy (both which is true) I think it's kinda cool *shrugs*. What do you think of his work? Let me know in the comments below.

Fashion Review: Bella & Chloe

Happy New Years! I hope everyone had a great holiday break. I know mine was awesome. I spent most of my days stuffing my face, reading good books, taking long naps and watching the Golden Girls (currently watching The Golden Girls as I write this post). All in all, it was lazy but much needed. I still have about a couple of days left but I'm already back to work. *sighs*. Before I go back into my shell of studying and jet setting to classes, I did want to get some shopping done. I'm really getting into online shopping especially for accessories. Love all the new boutiques I find online with such amazing finds that you don't get anywhere else. I recently discover this one online boutique, Bella & Chloe, which sell  vintage jewelry and accessories that I love! I mean I really love them! I discover them two months ago and been cyber stalking them ever since!

I've been eying a few pieces I wanted but never got the change to purchase but I will definitely be treating myself soon. I love the bohemian style to their jewelry and how you can style there jewelry with any casual look! BTW! Their new Winter 2015 Lookbook is to die for! UGH! Anywho, the prices are a little steep (if you're a broke college student like me, #collegelife) BUT it's soo worth it. Be sure to check out their website and their blog via Tumblr.

BTW! I'm going to try to post my face more often. LOL. But seriously, I'm going to try to do more OOTD's and stuff. I'm really not into talking about myself and my style a lot but I will try. WHOOP!
